Born: July 09, 1924
Died: January 19, 2007

Foster enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. In fact, Foster was refueling a PBY aircraft when the attack occurred. Foster received the following awards;

1. Good Conduct Medal
2. Victory Medal
3. American Campaign Medal
4. Asiatic Pacific Medal with Three (3) stars
5. Philippine Liberation Medal with Two (2) Stars
6. American Defense Medal

Specialist Frederick Andrew Carlson IV

  Frederick Andrew Carlson IV was born in Bethlehem, PA, on September 1, 1980. Frederick attended Liberty High School and enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard on March 27, 2002. SPC Carlson attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advanced individual Training at Ft. Lee, VA, where he earned the Military Occupational Specialty of 92G, Cook. Frederick has been a member of HHD 228th Forward Support Battalion, attached to Co B (-) 228th FSB since his return from AIT.

  SPC Carlson was activated to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on the 6th of January 2005 and was assigned as a cook with Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment 228th Forward Support Battlalion. In preparation for one year combat tour in Iraq. SPC Carlson and the rest of the 228th FSB received six months of training at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Whie at Mobilization Center Shelby he volunteered to become a member of the Battalion's Quick reaction Force/Personal Security Detachment where he served in Iraq with Co A 228th FSB with great Pride and distinction until his death on 25 March 2006. Specialist Carlson III; his son Frederick A. Carlson V; his fiancee Ms. Christina Ruiz; and his sister Brianna.

  Specialist Carlson was a well liked and valued member of the 228th Forward Support Battalion. He was an excellent Soldier who loved what he was doing and performed all tasks in a cheerful and efficient manner. Prior to mobilization for Operation Iraqi Freedom , Specialist Carlson was an industrial electrician with M. Davis and Sons, Inc in Wilmington, Deleware.

  Among Specialists Carlson's military awards and decorations are Army Commendation Medal (Posthumous), the Combat Action Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (M device).
